Gundlakamma Reservoir
The Gundla Kamma project was built on the Gundlalam river at 80 feet high at Mallavaram with a storage capacity of 12.845 tmns. The project aims to provide 62,368 acres in Kharif and 80.060 acres in Rabi with Rs. The project was constructed with 592 crores. The water was released from the project through the hands of late Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy in November 2008. Apart from irrigated, this project provides 250,000 drinking water in Ongole.
To fulfill government commitment to supply water to all the lands in the Ayacut, a high level canal was dug at 22.5 m level from the rear end of Right Main Canal. The canal is mostly completed except a small bit due to pending litigation in the Hon’ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile water was released through the cancel in the last couple of years benefiting the farmers.
Poola Subbaiah Veligonda Project
Poola Subbaiah Veligonda Project (PSVP) consists of Nallamala Sagar Reservoir which is formed by closing Three Gaps in Nallamala Hill Ranges namely Sunkesula, Gottipadia and Kakarla to draw 43.50 TMC of Flood water from Kollam Vagu (Upstream of Srisailam Reservoir) through twin Tunnels by gravity and thereafter, to impound in Nallamala Sagar Reservoir through a Feeder Canal. Three Canals namely Teegaleru, Gottipadia and Eastern Main Canal take off water from Nallamala Sagar Reservoir to cater to the Irrigation and Drinking Water needs.
The Government of A.P. declared the P.S.Veligonda Project in the year 2005 vide G.O.Ms.No.110 I&CAD, Dated:27.06.2005 and GO.
