Gundlakamma Reservoir
The Gundla Kamma project was built on the Gundlalam river at 80 feet high at Mallavaram with a storage capacity of 12.845 tmns. The project aims to provide 62,368 acres in Kharif and 80.060 acres in Rabi with Rs. The project was constructed with 592 crores. The water was released from the project through the hands of late Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhar Reddy in November 2008. Apart from irrigated, this project provides 250,000 drinking water in Ongole.
To fulfill government commitment to supply water to all the lands in the Ayacut, a high level canal was dug at 22.5 m level from the rear end of Right Main Canal. The canal is mostly completed except a small bit due to pending litigation in the Hon’ble High Court of Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile water was released through the cancel in the last couple of years benefiting the farmers.
However the High Level Canal does not find a mention in the project brief, cited above. The purpose of this petition is to request you to incorporate data on High Level canal in the Project brief cited above.
